WHAT WILL YOU CHOOSE?
One of the best things about Warhammer is the incredible variety of miniatures waiting to be discovered. From enormous monsters and legendary heroes to futuristic soldiers and alien races, there’s always something new that makes you want to pick up a paintbrush.
When you’re choosing your first miniatures, don’t worry too much about making the perfect choice. Have a look around, explore the different worlds and factions and see what catches your attention.
Maybe there’s a collection you can’t stop looking at, a character with a great story you want to bring to life, or a miniature that simply makes you think, “I want to paint that.”

HOW WILL IT LOOK?
There’s No Right Way to Paint Your Miniatures
Your miniatures don’t have to look exactly like the ones you see on the box.
Warhammer has incredible worlds, stories and factions that can give you plenty of inspiration for how your miniatures could look, but you’re also completely free to create something of your own.
You can experiment with different colours, painting styles and techniques, keep things simple or add as much detail as you like.
There really isn’t one right way to paint your miniatures.
That’s one of the great things about the hobby. Everyone brings a little of their own creativity to their miniatures. Even when two people are painting the same faction, they’ll often look completely different, with their own colours, ideas and personal touches.
And seeing what other people create can be just as inspiring as painting your own.

WHAT DO I NEED?
MINIATURES
Start with the miniatures you want to paint , whether that’s a single character, a small set, or the beginning of a whole collection.
TOOLS
A few basic tools will help you remove your miniatures from the sprue, clean them up and get them ready to build and paint.
GLUE
You’ll need some glue to put your miniatures together, with plastic glue being the best choice for most Warhammer miniatures.
PAINT
Water-based acrylic paints are used for miniature painting, and you only need to start with colours for your miniatures.
BRUSHES
A good variety of brushes will give you what you need to use different painting techniques and tackle all the details on your miniatures.

READY TO BUILD?
'Before we start painting, we need to build our miniatures....'
Most Warhammer miniatures come attached to plastic sprues. We’ll carefully remove each piece using our clippers, clean up any small pieces of plastic left behind, and then follow the instructions to assemble the miniature.
Take your time and check how the pieces fit together before applying any glue. Once everything is assembled, we’re ready for the part we’ve been working towards... painting our first miniature.

HOW DO I ACTUALLY PAINT?
When we first start painting, we might not be very good at it and that’s okay. Like anything new, miniature painting takes practice. With every miniature you paint, you’ll learn something new, gain experience and develop your own skills. Keep painting and before you even realise it you’ll see how much more confident you’ve become.
